The House of Larnach

We were recently commissioned to create this very special cast bronze plaque as a 40th birthday present. Our customer came to us with a series of AI-generated concept visuals and a clear idea of what they wanted to achieve: a timeless piece centred around an unofficial family coat of arms, designed to represent their family, values and heritage.

The original concept artwork provided a fantastic starting point, but translating an AI-generated design into something that can be successfully cast in solid bronze required careful adaptation. Some of the finer details needed to be simplified or reworked for the casting process, while subtle adjustments were made to the composition and spacing to ensure the finished plaque felt balanced and cohesive.

Alongside the family coat of arms, the design incorporates a rose and thistle to represent the family’s roots, together with the words “Strength • Family • Future.” The plaque was cast in solid bronze and given an antique bronze finish, with the raised lettering, border and intricate detailing carefully polished to reveal the natural warmth of the metal.

The finished piece has a wonderfully traditional and timeless character while remaining completely personal to the family it was created for. Made from solid cast bronze, it is also incredibly durable, turning a unique 40th birthday gift into a family heirloom that can be enjoyed for generations to come.
